Rounded Circles Theatre Co – RCTC is a professional theatre company dedicated to furthering artistic opportunity for young people in and around regional Far North Queensland. RCTC does not receive operational funding yet has engaged over twenty five young people in professional mentorship’s over the past year. It is essential that companies like RCTC exist to ensure our new generation has access to innovative and professional opportunity in the REGIONS!

Our 2006 project – Generation B is a creative development and production programme enabling emerging artists to pair with professional artists in the development and production of a new work. The participants involved in the programme are supported by their mentor in the understanding of processes and professional standards whilst applying skills directly to the job, with an aim to preparing them for the professional industry. The production ‘B’ will be performed at the Kuranda Amphitheatre 10th & 11th November and tour to the La Luna Youth Arts Festival in Townsville in December.

Participants in the programme have had access to:

·         Intensive skills development workshops spanning, playwriting, acting, and production

·         Dramaturgical sessions with award winning playwright Kathryn Ash

·         Rehearsal attendance at Just Us Theatre Ensemble (JUTE)’s latest production ‘Summaris is a Tropical Paradise on Top of a Shoe Factory in Footscray

·         Ongoing support from professional mentors in Lighting Design, Set and Costume Design, Acting, Stage Management, and Direction

·         A preview and showcase of skills at the JUTE 2006 Playwrights Conference

·         Tour to La Luna Youth Arts festival and showcase of skills

·         Networking opportunities in Cairns, Brisbane and Townsville

Participants also attended the Two High Festival and worked with the likes of Sven Swenson, Carol Burns and Michael Fultcher and performed at the Cremorne theatre – in Brisbane as the first regional participants!

B, will be sure to take audiences on a wild ride, combining theatre, fire performance and elements of performance art. ‘We are about creating new theatre by young people which is contemporary, exciting and innovative. Our cross media collaborations allow audiences to experience more of the performance, and I’m sure  B will not be forgotten quickly. The cast and crew are gaining a rare opportunity to experience the professional industry, which hopefully will drive them to continue to pursue professional opportunity. They will know how the industry works, who the people are and will each have played an important part in the development of an exciting work. RCTC is surely taking a leap in the development of youth theatre in Cairns and the regions.

As a company that is taking a lead role in the development of  youth arts culture we would love to offer you a promotional opportunity which would include:

  • Logo and Advertisement on B programme
  • Advertisement on RCTC website
  • Logo and support on B fliers and posters

Please support youth arts culture in your region and keep our artists creating quality theatre here!
